An update

Hello,

Here is a picture of me trying to cover up this massive gap with wax....looks so weird.

And here is another pic of me being silly and just embracing this big mama jama. I am so ready for this thing to be gone though! Just 10 more days till braces! Yay!
The day I get my braces on will mark two months since I had my surgery. I feel like other people had to wait a really long time till they got their braces on. I'm so happy the process is going along quickly.  No pain, except that my incisors and k9's are still tender.....Other than that, i feel great!

Warning: Graphic

Hello,

I wanted to post a picture of my stitches. Yes, they are still there, but only on the right side of my mouth...... weird right?  They are coming loose now and they don't hurt. You can also see in between the front teeth that its red. When i was expanding, that part of my mouth hurt so bad! Now that i have stopped turning it doesn't hurt at all. On another note, my gap has closed a little bit, Cool!

Where did this pain come from?!

Hey guys,

Wow It has been a bad couple of days. Starting last Sunday, my whole palate and face started hurting really bad. I took Ibuprofen and went to sleep. I woke up Monday morning with horrible pain. My pallet hurt so bad, drinking water and even slightly touching it with my tongue hurt. I could barely even stand. I had my boyfriend take me to the urgent care. There wasn't much they could do but prescribe me more painkillers. I went home and tried getting a hold of Dr. Bell, but he was in the OR all day. It was so miserable, I literally had a breakdown, keep in mind that I hadn't cried once from the day of the surgery until this day. I stayed home from work for two whole days. I had to suck it up and get back to work that Wednesday morning. I woke up with a huge migraine, I was shaking, and had to lay down a couple of times between getting ready. I chugged a Special K protein drink and threw a 800 mg ibuprofen down my throat. The day was miserable, until Dr. Bell called me back. I told him my symptoms and he told me to get to his office as soon as I could. He checked out my pallet and said that he believes that my bone is already fusing back, and that the turning of the expander was disrupting it. Ouch! he measured my pallet and said that I was already at 10 mm wide. He said that he doesn't see why I cant stop turning as of that day. He called Dr. Kawata to make sure this was ok, he didn't answer, so he told me to stop at his office to make sure this would be ok. I went over to Dr. Kawata's office and he said that I could stop expanding, YAY! He said that in the case that I lose a bit of width, Dr. Bell can widen it slightly during the 2nd surgery, which will be about 1mm. They sealed it off, and I went home. I kid you not, I woke up this morning, and had no pain! It was so great. I don't think I could've kept turning till next Monday, it would've been a horrible. I am back at work today and feel great. I get my braces on June 5th! Yessssss!
