Hello,

It has been 4 and a half days since my surgery. Yesterday was really bad for me, I guess they're right about the 3rd day thing. I woke up extremely nauseous, i dry heaved so much, and that was extremely painful for my face. I think it had to do with taking my Hydrocodone at 3 am without anything in my stomach. It was horrible i knew i had to eat, but i just couldn't bring myself to eat anything. I laid down, put an ice pack on my forehead and just fell asleep. When i woke up, I felt a bit better so David took me to get some chicken pho. I only got the noodles and chicken broth, it was so good. I made a decision to stop taking the pain meds yesterday, and i feel so much better. It's kinda like i was in a fog the last couple days. I've only been taking my antibiotics and ibuprofen and I've been fine.

I was able to drink coffee today! Yay! it was like liquid gold! it made me feel normal again. I drank that and had a very soft piece of bread with butter. I then went to Starbucks with my boyfriends' mom and got a vanilla bean frappe. I ate it with a spoon, and then i ate chopped up bananas and strawberries. I've just been trying to eat as much as possible so that i don't get nauseous. Other than that, i feel like I'm on the uphill. The only thing that's uncomfortable are my stitches they get tight, especially at night. I wake up about once a night, to rinse my mouth, and then it usually feels better.

I will come with more updates after my post op.

  1. Hello Gennevie Taylor, I'm glad your surgery went great! I'm interested in getting SARPE surgery and I was wondering where is Dr. Bell located. I would greatly appreciate your help. I hope that you are feeling better.

    Thank you.

    1. Hey Fernanda! Thanks for the comment! :)
Dr. Bell is located at Kaiser Permanente in Anaheim, Ca. Do you have insurance through Kaiser? If you have any questions, ask away! I know how it feels to be so curious lol.

    3. Thank you so much. I don't have insurance, but I had a hard time finding doctors that would perform this type of surgery so I'm just glad I know about this doctor and I'm really thankful that you answered. Btw your blog is really helpful and it really gives me hope. Thank you.

  2. Hey Fernanda, so I'm not sure how it works if you're not insured through Kaiser? What I did was I went through my primary care doctor at Kaiser. I got a referral from her to see a maxillofacial surgeon. I had to wait a couple of days for that referral, and then once I had it, I did a bunch of research on the surgeons through Kaiser. I then found Dr. Bell to have a consultation. He determines whether or not you need the surgery. If this is something you're serious about, you should look into getting insurance through Kaiser. My plan covered everything. I am so happy you're finding this helpful.

  3. Hi again. Sorry to bother you again, I was wondering if you could please let me know what plan you had through Kaiser. There are so many plans and I'm not really sure which one would cover for the surgery. If you could please let me know I'd be really thankful. Btw, your current results are amazing, you're a true inspiration :)

    1. Hey there, I'm not sure about specifics, I know that it's an HMO. I actually didn't know there were different plans. I would ask for evidence of coverage. You can usually see what you're covered for. I'm sorry I'm not much help! :/ If you have any other questions feel free to ask, hopefully I can be some help.
