Hello, I wanted to post some pictures that I found. I wish that i had
posted these the day of, but there was a lot going on. There are so
many things I remember about recovery now.
1. Vertigo on about the fourth and fifth day after surgery. I was laying in bed on
an incline trying to get some sleep. I closed my eyes when all of the
sudden the room started spinning. I jumped out of bed because I felt
like I was going to vomit. I could not go back to sleep for hours, it
was awful because I was so tired and all I wanted to do was sleep, but
being dizzy is the worst. I called my surgeon the next day and he told
me this was normal and shouldn't last too long. He let me know that they
do some tapping during the surgery, and that will sometimes cause some
imbalance to the equilibrium. It lasted a day and a half.
2.
Blood clots in the nose. When they do the surgery, there is obviously a
lot of blood that will come up through the nasal passages. Although I
didn't experience a bloody nose through recovery, I did however, have
huge blood clots trapped way up my nose. Dr. Bell told me not to blow my
nose, so I got a flashlight and looked up there. I saw the clots,
they were super hard, pretty much mucus and blood, just hardened. I took
some tweezers and gently pulled these huge hard clots out. You have no
idea how satisfying it was, and how much better I could breathe after
that. Gross, but that's the reality of it.
3. Spitting up
blood. Every time I brushed my teeth or rinsed my mouth out, blood
would be in the sink. I would sort of clear my throat and spit, and
blood would come out. I know that it was just old blood from the back
of my throat, and also some that most likely caught in my expander, and
incisions.

| This was 8 days after surgery, I was so swollen! By the way, check out the message Dr. Bell has on his white board. |
